It's time to Return to Ravnica, the fate of the city is in your hands...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Azorius Senate is a guild from Ravnica featured in Dissension. They are the guild themed of the colors of white and blue. In the city, their purpose is to create laws and ensure that everyone abides by them. Members of the guild are extremely aloof, believing their legislation to be the single force that prevents Ravnica from slipping into chaos. Also, they are known for being excessively formalistic, and literally spend hours on end reciting legal documents and making sure they adhere perfectly to protocol in all of their actions. For these reasons, they are deeply loathed by their Ravnican subjects. The parun was the Supreme Judge Azor I, a human lawmage who wrote most of the original Guildpact.

The Izzet League keep the water systems, the heating systems, and every other system of modern convenience and infrastructure running in Ravnica. This, however, is mundane tedium to an Izzet. This guild is home to the masters of theoretical science, invention, and spellcraft. Their nature is a passion for discovery and knowledge, reckless curiosity, their brilliant minds jumping from one subject to another as whimsy sees fit. Many members of the Izzet could be adequately described as benign mad scientists.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Cult of Rakdos is arguably the most despicably cruel guild of Ravnica. Every being in the guild is single-mindedly obsessed with inflicting pain and being as sadistic as possible. Their parun and current guildmaster is the demonlord, Rakdos the Defiler. Nevertheless, Rakdos himself spends most of the time in hibernation in the lava pits, leaving a guildmaster-in-chief to rule the guild. This role was performed in the time near the Decamillennial by the cruel human sorceress Izolda (her card was made as Lyzolda, the Blood Witch).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Golgari Swarm epitomizes the cycle of life and death. Death is little barrier to people of Ravnica but for the Golgari, it is only a single step on a cyclical journey. They value power through growth. Planting and re-growing their dead into an army of plant zombies, the Golgari spread like a slow fungus, taking over bit by bit. Because of their necromantic habits, they are the biggest guild on Ravnica. Their major role is to provide other citizens with food.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The guild of Selesnya is one of peace, life, and community. Out of all of the guilds of Ravnica, it is arguably the one that can most easily be called "good". Of course, given recent events with the quietmen, it is clear that even they have an agenda. Selesnya is composed mainly of dryads. The "guild leader" of Selesnya in the Ravnica: City of Guilds set is a collective mind known as the Chorus of the Conclave, with the top members of the guild as figureheads.
