Hobbymaster Event Centre Magic: The Gathering Prize Support - Promo Packs

Hey Hobbymasters!

Wizards of the Coast has been changing up a LOT of things with their tournament support in the past while, and one of the things they introduced with Dominaria (a year and a half ago, time really does fly by) was the Promo pack! Well, back then they were the Standard Showdown packs, but they were enough of a success that they've replaced the regular FNM promos to become a staple part of MTG Prize Support.

How do Promo packs work? you might ask. They're a special booster that Wizards of the Coast distribute to stores, replacing FNM promos and Strandard Showdown packs. They have awesome packs, with guaranteed rares, mythics and foils with no commons!

For full transparency, we wanted to tell our community how we distribute our Promo packs. Each week we have up to 3 Premium Promo packs, and 8 Promo packs which are distributed in this way:

Standard Showdown

Standard Showdown is every Saturday, with FREE entry. First place receives a Premium Promo pack, with second place getting a Promo pack, and 2 random players (excluding previous prize winners in the event) getting a Promo pack.

Friday Night Magic: Draft

For Friday Night Magic Drafts, we'll be giving out a Promo pack for each draft pod, where there will be a random draw in each pod to see who will get the pack!

Friday Night Magic: Standard

Standard follows a similar prize structure to Standard Showdown, with first place getting a Premium Promo pack. However, second place doesn't necessarily receive a pack, but there are still 2 random draws for players to receive a Promo pack.

If, for some reason an event doesn't fire all remaining Promo packs get added to a pool that we use for our bigger events - recently we had the Modern Meta Celebration, which you may remember had the Top players receiving Promo packs alongside other prizes!

These packs are for us to support our community, because without you, our players, our community, we have nothing.

We hope this helps clear up some confusion on what might happen with these prizes, and hope you all have a great day filled with Magic!
