EVOLUTION ANOTHER WORLD

We know a great deal about the evolution on Earth (and we hope that Evolution: New World helped you with that too). It's an exciting story of various creatures acquiring defensive & offensive traits to adapt to the ever-changing environment. What we don’t know is if there might be other worlds where completely different creatures dwell. Will the same laws of evolution apply there too? It's time to find out!

Evolution: Another World is a card game in a beloved Evolution: the Origin of Species series. In the game, you create animals and give them traits, so they survive and thrive in the chaotic world of wondrous creatures. The goal of the game is to give your creatures enough energy to transmute and transcend their state of existence. The first player to transmute three creatures wins the game.

This is a fast-paced, easy-to-learn game with a solo mode included in the core game. Mechanically, it is inspired by Evolution: New World, but trades some complexity for more dynamic and light gameplay.

This game is Family-friendly because animals can’t die or be eaten by predators. Competition is peaceful, but you can attack other players' creatures to gain energy. This game has a straightforward win condition: you don't need to count VP at the end of the game. Transmute 3 of your creatures and you win the game!

LET'S HIT EACH OTHER WITH FAKE SWORDS

The hook of the party game Let's Hit Each Other with Fake Swords is that...you get to hit each other with fake swords. Why you're doing that is to claim action cards. Collect three cards of a color, and you have a set; collect three sets before anyone else, and you win. Each round, the fight boss divides cards into piles, then after a countdown of 3-2-1, everyone points to the pile they want. If no one else has pointed at your pile, take that pile and place those cards (or card) in front of you. If no one points at a pile, discard that pile. If multiple people point at a pile (or multiple piles have multiple people pointing at them), the fight boss chooses which two people pointing at the same pile will fight, and those players then try to hit one another with fake swords — but they must follow all of the rules on the cards over which they are fighting. Maybe you have to stand on one leg or wield the sword without bending your elbow or keep a running count of the things the fighters hit...or maybe you have to do all three of those things! If the fight boss sees a fighter violate a rule — such as disobeying a card or hitting an opponent on the head or arm — the other fighter wins. If a fighter hits their opponent on the chest or back (or meets the victory condition on a card), they claim all of the cards in that pile. Everyone else who was pointing at the same pile as someone else gets nothing.

DOMINION: ALLIES (EXPANSION)

It's a celebration! People are dancing in the streets, and riding horses through the dance halls. You've finally formed an alliance with the barbarians to the north. Instead of the streets running red with blood, they'll run, well, the usual color — let's not focus on what color the streets run. The point is, there's peace. Sure, negotiations were tricky. The barbarians are uncouth; they have no five-second rule and stick out the wrong finger when drinking tea. There are perks, too, though. They've given you skulls to drink mead out of and spices to get rid of the skull aftertaste. And you've given them stuff in return: forks, mirrors, pants. It's great for everyone. And with this treaty out of the way, you can get to work on your other neighbors. Soon, all the allies will be yours. Dominion: Allies, the 14th expansion in the Dominion series, contains 400 cards, with 31 new Kingdom card piles that contain allies who will do favors for you and split piles that you can rotate.

PALEO

Paleo is a co-operative adventure game set in the stone age, a game in which players try to keep the human beings in their care alive while completing missions. Sometimes you need a fur, sometimes a tent, but these are all minor quests compared to your long-term goal: Painting a woolly mammoth on the wall so that humans thousands of years later will know that you once existed. (Okay, you just think the mammoth painting looks cool. Preserving a record of your past existence is gravy.)What might keep you from painting that mammoth? Death, in all its many forms. Each player starts the game with a couple of humans, who each have a skill and a number of life points. On a turn, each player chooses to go to one location — possibly of the same type as other players, although not the same location — and while you have some idea of what you might find there, you won't know for sure until you arrive, at which point you might acquire food or resources, or find what you need to craft a useful object, or discover that you can aide someone else in their project, or suffer a snakebite that brings you close to death. Life is full of both wonders and terrors...At the day's end, you need food for all the people in your party as well as various crafts or skills that allow you to complete quests. Failure to do so adds another skull on the tote board, and once you collect enough of those, you decide that living is for fools and give up the ghost, declaring that future humans can just admire someone else, for all you care.Paleo includes multiple modules that allow for a variety of people, locations, quests, and much more during your time in 10,000 BCE.

HOLLY OAK

In the seasonal trick-taking game Holly Oak, 3-5 revelers mark the passing of the seasons, seeking the favor of the Celtic Oak and Holly kings, locked in their endless cycle of growth, decay, and renewal. You must follow the current season if you can, but if you can't, then you may play any card. If you play a card of the next season, the season changes! A change in season often alters who wins that trick, as the highest rank card of the season that the trick ends in, wins that trick. These potential mid-trick season changes means that standard trick-taking maneuvers, such as drawing out trump, often won't work. Players score points either by taking the 6 Holly and Oak kings, worth 1 or 2 points each, or by taking no tricks at all, worth 8, 5, or 3 points in 3, 4, and 5 player games respectively. Between no-trick scoring and mid-trick trump changes, Holly Oak becomes a game of manipulating both the lead and current season to your advantage. Can you master the changing seasons?
