TICKET TO RIDE: UNITED KINGDOM & PENNSYLVANIA

Ticket to Ride Map Collection: Volume 5 – United Kingdom & Pennsylvania contains a double-sided game board with new rules for use with Ticket to Ride or Ticket to Ride: Europe with players now creating train lines in the British Isles and in Pennsylvania.

The Pennsylvania half of this map collection adds a share mechanism to the basic TtR game. Each time that a player completes a route, they claim a share of one of the companies depicted next to that route. At the end of the game, whoever holds more shares of a company than all other players receives points as a reward.

The United Kingdom half of this map collection introduces the concept of technology to TtR. At the start of the game, players can build only one- and two-train routes and only in England. By spending wild cards, players gain the ability to build routes three trains long or longer, in addition to being able to build ferries across water and build train routes in Scotland, Wales and Ireland. Players can also buy bonus cards that allow them to score extra points for taking certain actions during play. Despite the name, the map covers both the UK and the Republic of Ireland, that is, the islands of Great Britain and Ireland.

Although officially an expansion for Ticket to Ride or Ticket to Ride: Europe, this could be used for Ticket to Ride: Nordic Countries. However use with Nordic Countries would be limited to three players and use of spare trains. The UK map requires 35 trains, the Pennsylvania map requires 45 trains, and Nordic Countries contains 40 of each colour (with 5 spare).

MONSIEUR CARROUSEL

Monsieur Carrousel is a cooperative game. Work together to help all of the kids get on the carousel before the rain starts to fall! On your turn, roll the die. Choose a kid token that is not yet on the carousel and place it on an empty seat that matches the colour rolled on the die. Make sure to remember the seat type of the kids! Then spin the carousel. What’s the weather like when the carousel stops? If your kid ends up in the sun zone of the game board, you pick up a yellow stick — representing a ray of sunshine — and place it in a trough on the board; the troughs need two sticks to fill, and if the stick doesn't fit the space exactly, then you place it back in the reserve, so pick carefully! If your kid ends up in the rain zone, add a raindrop to the board. You roll a colour that has kid tokens in both spaces on the wheel? Spin the carousel and when it stops, look at the seat Monsieur Carrousel is now pointing at with his finger. If he points to a seat with a kid on it, then guess which seat the kid is sitting on. If your guess is correct, place a sun stick; otherwise place a raindrop. The game ends when either all of the kids are on the carousel or all of the raindrops have been placed on the game board. Monsieur Carrousel includes multiple image wheels for variety in gameplay.

PANDEMIC LEGACY: YELLOW

The world is on the brink of total collapse. Already devastated by a terrible plague, much of the globe has gone dark. Small groups of survivors struggle to keep the world alive, but their efforts are no longer enough. The world needs leaders to rise up and find the way back from the brink of extinction. That task has fallen to you. You must find a way or nobody will. You are humanity’s last chance. A cooperative legacy game for two to four players, Pandemic Legacy: Season 2 immerses players in a harrowing tale of survival. It is seventy-one years after the events of Pandemic Legacy: Season 1, and humanity has been brought to its knees. A network of the last known cities persists, supplied by the “havens,” isolated stations floating in the ocean far from the plague. Three generations of survivors have called the havens home. Most of them have never set foot on the mainland. But now supplies are running low and the people have turned to you to lead. It is up to you to save what remaining cities you can and stop the world from ending for good. Over the course of a year, you and your team must search for answers to the vicious plague while maintaining your supply network. Your actions will carry over to future games and your choices will forever alter the world. Cities will rise and fall, your characters will learn new skills and may become permanently scarred, new rules will come into play, and the very game board will be forever altered. Each development affects the course of your group’s unique journey through this post-apocalyptic world and contributes its own twist to your story. Pandemic Legacy: Season 2 continues the epic struggle for the fate of humanity. You do not need to have played Pandemic Legacy: Season 1 to experience the exciting gameplay of Pandemic Legacy: Season 2.

SMUGGLERS

To bring the best youngsters into the business, the smuggler boss is holding a contest, with the candidates being challenged to move a sack filled with contraband through an opening in the fence. More specifically, in Smugglers players form the "sacks" used for smuggling out of modeling clay and hide their contraband within. The sacks are then rolled down a 3D path, with a die roll determining which hole in the fence the player needs to try to squeeze through. The player whose bag fits through the hole and who has the largest sack now checks the smaller bags, possibly taking the contraband hidden within. SAGRADA

Draft dice and use the tools-of-the-trade in Sagrada to carefully construct your stained glass window masterpiece. In more detail, each player builds a stained glass window by building up a grid of dice on their player board. Each board has some restrictions on which color or shade (value) of die can be placed there. Dice of the same shade or color may never be placed next to each other. Dice are drafted in player order, with the start player rotating each round, snaking back around after the last player drafts two dice. Scoring is variable per game based on achieving various patterns and varieties of placement...as well as bonus points for dark shades of a particular hidden goal color. Special tools can be used to help you break the rules by spending skill tokens; once a tool is used, it then requires more skill tokens for the other players to use them. The highest scoring window artisan wins! 1-4 playersAges 10 to adult20-40 minutes playing time

DUNGEON ACADEMY

Time to enter a dungeon — a dungeon composed of dice! — to kill monsters and score as much as possible. In Dungeon Academy, each player has a piece of paper that shows four dungeons, with each dungeon being a 4x4 grid. The game lasts four rounds, and in each round you will go through one of these dungeons. Each player also has a character card that shows some amount of life (red) and mana (blue) along with a special power. What's actually in a dungeon is determined by dice that you roll at the start of the round. You roll sixteen dice, then let them settle in a 4x4 grid. The dice show red and blue monsters in both small and large sizes, as well as blue potions and red strength. You decide where to enter the dice dungeon and which dice to pass through in a continuous line that can change directions only orthogonally, and you draw this corresponding line on your personal grid until you exit at some other point of the dungeon without crossing over your line. You then claim the lowest available number card, with the number of cards matching the number of players. Once everyone has finished drawing a line through the dungeon, you trace out that path step by step, removing life (1 or 2) to defeat red monsters (small or large) and mana (1 or 2) to defeat blue monsters (small or large). You place new tokens on your character as you pass through potions and strength spaces. Once you're through the grid, you score points for the monsters you defeated, and you choose one of four quests on your sheet for bonus points. (In the second round, you choose one of the three remaining quests, so your choices diminish over time.) In player order based on your number card, you take one of the available treasures, which provide points and powers. Your life and mana levels carry over into the next round. In the second and third rounds, you replace one of the dice with a labyrinth die that can be passed through only in certain directions, and in the fourth round another die is replaced with the big boss die, giving you something giant to take on before ending the game and tallying your final score.
